Hafa Adai 5K Color Fun Run on April 6

Pacific Islands Club Saipan will be hosting the Hafa Adai 5K Color Fun Run on April 6.

This no-timed-everyone-wins 5-kilometer fun run known as the Hafa Adai 5K will generate charitable funds to be donated to the Saipan Humane Society.

This year’s beneficiary is a non-profit organization founded in response to animal overpopulation and the need for veterinary services in the CNMI.

S.E.A. director Dennis Tababa said “The Hafa Adai 5K continues to be a fundraiser for non-profit agencies in the CNMI. This year, PIC chose the Saipan Humane Society to help with their mission in finding solutions for the animal overpopulation. PIC has seen its fair share of stray cats and dogs on its property and this can be a safety issue for our guests and employees. With the help of Saipan Humane Society, we can humanely catch and relocate the animals.”

Safety manager Mark Caacbay said “It is important that we support organizations like Saipan Humane Society to reduce the likelihood of stray animals to cause accidents on community members and visitors to our islands, directly or indirectly.”

S.E.A. manager Reymark Castro said, “the Hafa Adai 5K has new and improved surprises this year. We continue to adjust every year after listening to you, CNMI! We promise to give you guys an amazing experience every time you say PIC. The Saipan Humane Society is one of the few organizations that we can run to when we need help with our furry friends. It is only just that we try and help them back in any way we can.”

The race will start and finish at PIC Saipan and will feature five different coloring stations that has about 600 lbs of color powder along the Beach Road route. Participants are encouraged to wear white attire so that the full effect of the coloring stations can be seen post-race. Volunteers will be celebrating each runner’s arrival by greeting them with “holi powder.” This is biodegradable mixture of corn starch and food coloring.

PIC is inviting the entire community to participate. The race fee is just $12 and the first 1,000 entries will receive a commemorative event T-shirt. For this one-of-a-kind event, PIC Saipan is expecting 2,000 runners plus spectators. Post-race, PIC will be raffling more than $5,000 worth of prizes which include PIC waterpark passes, Magellan lunches and brunches along with room stays and memberships to PIC Saipan.
