IPI aware, but mum of Beijing Court’s decision in case against former official

Imperial Pacific International (CNMI) LLC manager/director Howyo Chi said yesterday that they are aware of a Beijing Court’s decision that found IPI’s former project director to be involved in criminal activities.

In response to Saipan Tribune’s inquiry about the Beijing Court’s decision, Chi said IPI will have no comments at this time.

The Beijing Municipal First Intermediate People’s Court ruled on Nov. 24, 2023, that Ji Xiaobo, the former executive of Macau junket firm, Hengsheng Group, and project director for IPI, was deemed head of a criminal syndicate. (See related story).

Commonwealth Casino Commission board chair Edward C. DeLeon Guerrero also has yet to comment on the matter.

DeLeon Guerrero set the CCC board’s regular monthly meeting for tomorrow, Thursday, at 10:30am. Included in the meeting’s agenda is an update on the criminal charges and sentencing of IPI affiliates and owners by the Beijing Municipal First Intermediate People’s Court’s ruling.
