Iguel, Hideo are pitching leaders in softball

The regular season of the 2023 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association Slow Pitch Open League ended, and as of Oct. 8, Luis Iguel and Dominic Hideo took the pitching titles, while the batting leaders were Kimo Angailen and Tony Salas.

Iguel of No. 1 seed Aimeliik Bat Boys sported a perfect six-game win record, a 7.411 ERA, 34 innings pitched, and 36 earned runs. Kebruka’s Mario Salas came in second with a 7.424 ERA, 5-1 record, 33 innings pitched, and 35 earned runs. Third was Mamaaw’s Giovanni Mira with a 7.737 ERA, 7-0 record, 38 innings pitched, and 42 earned runs.

Meanwhile, Hideo of Saipal was the strikeout king once again with 31. Second to him is Jon Welson with 27; Jeff Isaac has 26; and J.P. Lizama racked up 21.

The batting leaders of the season were No Excuse’ Angailen and Just 4 Fun’s Salas. They both share a .789 batting average from 30 hits of 38 at-bats.

Other batting leaders were Mario Salas with the most doubles at seven; Angailen, Mira, and Ze Lifoifoi have five each; and eight others are tied with four.

Jon Norita has the most triples with 4; Larson Sibetang has three; and Troy Laniyo, Ben Leon Guerrero, Rollins Skang, and Welson have two each.

The home run king was Byron Kaipat with 19; Ze Lifoifoi came in a close second with 18; Nate Camacho hit 15; J.D. Dikito had 14; and three others were tied with 13 each.

Lifoifoi hit the most RBIs with 41; second was Tony Salas; Kaipat and Camacho hit 34 each; and Angailen drove in 32.

The most runs were made by Kaipat at 32; Tony Salas was a close second with 31; Leon Guerrero had 29; and Poland Masaharu and Cam Towai hit in 27 each.

At the end of the regular season, the team standings were as follows: Aimeliik Bat Boys clinched the pennant with a 12-1 record; Just 4 Fun was right behind with also a 12-1 record; No Excuse made up the top three with 11-2; Kebruka and Mamaaw was at 9-4 each; PayDayHao was at 7-5; Blue Jays and Saipal were both 6-7; Team Mac, Dat’s It, Ready Mix, and TuTuRamZ shared a 4-9 record; and No Choice and Seaweed Vibes only won one game apiece and lost 12.

Saipal’s Dominic Hideo is the 2023 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association Slow Pitch Open League strikeout king with 31.
