Kanoa FC teams finish strong with 3 champs
Kanoa Football Club finished strong as they won three championships in the TakeCare Youth Soccer League Fall 2023 finals at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville last Saturday.
Kanoa won the U12 boys division over Paire FC, 4-0; the Kanoa U14 boys team triumphed against MP United 2, 7-1; and the Kanoa U14 girls team prevailed over Southern United FC, 3-2.
R.J. Manabat led the U12 team with two goals as Kanoa controlled the ball for most of the game. The third goal came before the end of the first half and the last goal was made in the 40th minute with still no answer from Paire.
Kanoa’s U14 team also overpowered their opponents as five of their goals were made early in the first half.
Two goals by Rooney Gil and a goal each from Maximus Taitano, Akoni Matsumoto, and Jayson Tagabuel at the 14-minute mark ensured their easy win against MP United. The only MP United goal was made in the 10th minute by Kimason Cabrera.
Meanwhile, Kanoa wasn’t done as Gil completed the hat-trick in the 37th minute and Aldric Antonio scored the last goal in the 49th minute, for a six-point deficit win.
The Kanoa girls handed Kanoa FC its third championship of the season as they just managed to slip past SUFC by one goal.
Tied at two apiece in the 38th minute, Kanoa scored the tie-breaking goal a minute later to bag the championship.
The Golden Boot award—given to those who made the most goals of the season—went to Kanoa’s U12 boys striker Izaiah Tenorio at 17 goals.
The U14 girls Golden Boot awardee was SUFC’s Rosie Saralu with 31 goals; and the U14 boys Golden Boot winner was Latte FC’s Emerson Brillo with 33 goals.
Results of the U17 boys and girls championships will be posted in the next issues of Saipan Tribune.
