Kanto Diyes expands, adds new items to menu
Not even a year open and Kanto Diyes has already expanded its restaurant two-fold with the acquisition of the lease of Jacob’s Barbecue and Bakeshop next door.
Owner Dante Suarez Conlu said the expansion has allowed Kanto Diyes to accommodate more customers as the common complaint about their restaurant was its small space and lack of parking.
“We could only fit in 20 customers before, but now we’re up to 50 seats with the expansion to the adjacent space. Honestly, we had no choice but to turn away frustrated customers before because we’re always full, but with the additional space, we can now welcome more diners,” he said.
Another positive offshoot of the bigger space is Kanto Diyes can now accept reservations, whether it be small or large group reservations.
“Because of the limited space we couldn’t guarantee anyone a table, but now that we have double the dine-in capacity we’re not only open for reservations but can also now accommodate large groups,” said Conlu.
As part of its expansion, Kanto Diyes also introduced two new items on its menu with more traditional Filipino dishes on the way.
Starting this February, longanisa chorizo and hotdog combo, grilled prawn set, and beef short ribs are now part of Kanto Diyes’ stapples.
Conlu said very soon they will also be serving a pork belly set and spareribs barbecue and introduce a slew of cold non-alcoholic drinks like fruit juices.
Kanto Diyes also recently launched its unlimited rice promotion for Monday and Tuesday, which had been a hit for youngsters but not so much for the older customers who are cutting down on their rice consumption. So far, Conlu said the record for unlimited rice is five cups.
At the end of the day, he said Kanto Diyes is always about customer satisfaction and that’s the reason why they expanded their restaurant, added new items to its menu, and started an unlimited rice promo.
One example of Conlu and company’s adherence to this motto is Kanto Diyes giving a diner short of cash a free meal when he and his group of friends patronized the restaurant recently.
“I think he was short of budget and we felt bad that his friends we’re enjoying a meal and he was just there to sit and watch. So, we gave him something on the house,” he said.
Kanto Diyes is open for dine-in and takeout every day from 11am to 9:30pm. It can seat a maximum of 50 customers and is located along Flores Rosa Street corner Alaihai Avenue near the back of Dollar Days in Garapan.
