Kevin Kapileo is current strikeout king

As of Jan. 22, Blue Jays pitcher Kevin Kapileo is the strikeout king in the 2023 Tan Holdings-SBL Masters League.

Kapileo has a total of 37 strikeouts and has led the league since it first started last November. A distant second is Jeff Cruz at 19; Pete Sablan and Joe Kapileo have 13 each; Bill Camacho and Tony Flores have 12; Tony Pangelinan struck out 10; and Dung Tenorio and J.J. Laniyo have nine each.

The leading pitcher is Pirates’ J.J. Laniyo with an ERA of 0.97, in three games played and 7.2 innings pitched, with a record of two wins and no losses, one ER, and only hits against him.

Second is Dodgers’ Jeff Cruz with a 1.08 ERA; three wins; three games and 13 innings pitched; two ER, and seven hits. Third is Pete Sablan from the Pirates has a 1.56 ERA; two wins; seven hits; two ER; and has pitched three games in 13 innings.

From the bump to 90 feet in the batter’s box, Dodgers’ Glen Camacho leads all sluggers with a batting average of .632. He had 12 hits from 19 at-bats. Second is Pirates’ Audie Maratita with an average of .625, from 15 hits in 24 at-bats; and third is Reds’ Hector Efraim at a .563 batting average from nine hits out of 16 plate appearances.

In other batting columns, James Benavente has scored the most runs at 19; Derek Aguon is next with 18; Pete Sablan has 14; Alvin Takai, Audie Maratita, Cartfield Sablan, and Jerome Delos Santos have 13 each; Jun Salalila has 12; and Ed Manibusan and Glen Camacho have 11 each.

Maratita has the most doubles with seven; Ton Pangelinan has four; and Alvin Takai, Ben Pangelinan, Bruce Norita, Cris George, Ed Manibusan, Eric Palacios, Jess Takawo, J-Boy Deleon Guerrero, Jun Salalila, J.J. Teigita, Mario Aguon, Robert Bansil, and Shine Tenorio have two each.

Cartfield Sablan Ed Manibusan, Richard Quitugua, Dennis Cruz, Derek Aguon, and Mike Techur have hit two triples each, while nine players are tied with one each.

Robert Bansil has hit the lone home run, while Maratita and J-Boy Deleon Guerrero both hit an inside-the-park homer.

Maratita also leads the most RBI column at 17; J-Boy DLGuerrero and Shine Tenorio have 11 each; Eric Palacios and Richard Quitugua collected 10 each; Bruce Norita and Pete Tomokane have nine each; and Derek Aguon has eight.
