Maratita atop 3 Masters League categories

The undefeated Pirates’ Audie Maratita is having a blast in the 2023 Tan Holdings-SBL Masters League as he’s atop three offensive categories as of Jan. 15.

Maratita leads all sluggers with a batting average of .667 from 12 hits in 18 plate appearances. Second to him is the Dodgers’ Glen Camacho at .625 from 10 hits in 16 at-bats, and third is teammate Bruce Norita, who hit 11 out of 18 at-bats.

In the doubles category, Maratita leads with five; Ton Pangelinan has three; and Alvin Takai, Ben Pangelinan, Bruce Norita, Cris George, Ed Manibusan, Eric Palacios, J-Boy Deleon Guerrero, Jun Salalila, J.J. Teigita, Robert Bansil, and Shine Tenorio all have two each.

Maratita also hit the most RBIs with 15; second is Richard Quitugua with 10; Norita, Palacios, Pete Tomokane, Tenorio all have nine each; and Jess Mesa, Deleon Guerrero, Derek Aguon, Manibusan, Ton Pangelinan have seven each.

In the runs scored column, James Benavente has the most with 17; Aguon has 15; Takai scored 12; and Cartfield Sablan, Camacho, Jerome Delos Santos have 11 each.

Sablan, Manibusan, and Quitugua are tied with the most triples at two each; and eleven other players are tied with one each.

Bansil is still the only player to hit a home run.

Over on the pitching side, Pirates’ J.J. Laniyo is the top pitcher with a clean slate of 0 ERA from six innings pitched in three games, allowed only three hits and has 0 ER, and has one win.

Second is teammate Dung Tenorio who has a 0.78 ERA from three games and nine innings pitched. He has allowed one ER and eight hits and has a 2-0 record. Third is the Dodgers’ Jeff Cruz with three wins, 1.17 ERA, from three games and 12 innings pitched and has allowed two ER and seven hits.

The most strikeouts made so far is 29 by Kevin Kapileo; Cruz is second with 19; Pete Sablan has 13; Joe Kapileo has 11; Tony Flores threw nine; Bill Camacho, Dung Tenorio, and Ton Pangelinan all have eight each; and Takai and Laniyo threw seven each.
