Michelob Cup, Pokka Cup meeting on Tuesday, league starts in April
The 2024 Michelob Ultra Cup’s second season is set to start on Friday, April 5, and will also feature a women’s and 16U division, called the Pokka Cup.
A meeting is scheduled for 5pm Tuesday, March 19, at Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium’s conference room, with a final technical meeting on Tuesday, April 2.
There are currently 10 men’s teams interested—Brothers, 670 Akkari 1, 670 Akkari 2, Bridge Capital, Ol’Aces, The Game, Lakay, New Chan Ming, Team Marianas, and one team name pending.
For the Pokka Cup, there are currently three women’s teams interested, all with pending team names.
The entrance fee per men’s team is $675, and the deadline for fee, rosters, and waiver forms is set for April 2. Registration will be on a “first pay, first served” basis. The maximum is 12 teams and 14 players per team.
The entrance fee per women’s team is $450 and the regular season will consist of a round-robin format, followed by single-elimination playoffs.
The Northern Mariana Islands Basketball Federation said each team must have at least five players who are 21 years old or over to be eligible to play.
The regular season will follow a round-robin format, with the Top 7 teams advancing to single-elimination playoffs.
In the inaugural season last year, the undefeated Martech Ol’Aces won over Team Marianas for the championship.
