Norita says coordinator hired to track multiple years of federal audit findings
Department of Finance Secretary Tracy B. Norita has disclosed that they have hired a coordinator to track the multiple years of federal audit findings issued to government agencies.
In response to a question during a press briefing last week, Norita said the federal audit findings have been acknowledged even by their cognizant agency, the Office of Insular Affairs and through the single audit grant that was given to assist the CNMI.
Norita said they don’t just track one year of audit findings, as they have to go back multiple single audits and follow up on every outstanding finding and questioned costs.
She said they have somebody on board to help with that workload and that entails reaching out to all agencies, not just the Department of Finance, and follow up on each of the findings and the status of clearance of those findings from multiple federal agencies.
“And so it is a large amount of work. However. it is being addressed,” Norita said.
