Old B Bank, Kanoa, Shirley’s undefeated in soccer leagues
Old B Bank is undefeated in the Marianas Soccer League 2 with three wins, while Shirley’s Football Club and Kanoa Football Club is undefeated in the Tinekcha-Awaal (Premier Division) Spring 2024 Dove Women’s League.
Old B Bank won their third game after blanking Paire FC, 3-0, last Sunday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.
A lot of back-and-forth action resulted in a scoreless first half, with both teams unable to find holes in the other’s defenses. Come the second half, a case of mistaken identity led to Paire scoring their own goal to put Old B Bank up by one.
Old B Bank then took that to their advantage and kept possession most of the time, which paid off with a goal in the 41st minute by Lin Xiao Feng.
Paire couldn’t get a foothold of the ball long enough to do damage and let the time pass quietly. However, Old B Bank still had more ammo up their sleeve and scorched their third goal towards the end of the match made by John Canape.
Paire went on to be scoreless and conceded as time ran out.
In other results that day, Shirley’s FC won over MP United, 3-0 as well. Last Friday, Paire FC won over MP United via forfeit.
Tinekcha-Awaal (Premier) Division
Kanoa FC defeated Paire FC, 4-2, in the Tinekcha-Awaal (Premier Division) Spring 2024 Dove Women’s League last Sunday.
Kanoa had a great start and capitalized on their early goals. By the 18th minute, they were up, 2-0, after Irish Pagarao and Deseha Mendiola’s attack at the net.
Paire were constantly trying to get away from their aggressor but could not maintain control in the first half. Then, another goal was made by Pagarao to make it 3-0.
Reprieve came for Paire in the second as they finally found openings in Kanoa’s defenses with a goal by Sharlette Casil in the 41st minute. Another strong goal by Tsubakiko Joab nine minutes later cut the lead down by half, 2-4.
Kanoa came roaring back, however, and ballooned the lead, 4-2, after a goal by Andrei Kaithlyn Chavez. Paire couldn’t bounce back as Kanoa’s defenses tightened and didn’t let another goal slip by.
Shirley’s FC, on the other hand, beat the Women’s Development Team, 7-2.
