‘Pikaboo’ excited; ‘Lion Heart’ preparing for war

Saipan’s Shane “Pikaboo” Alvarez and Guam’s Isaac “Lion Heart” Crisostomo can’t wait to face each other in the co-main kickboxing event of Trench Warz Promotions’ Ring of Fire 2 this Saturday at trhe Garapan Central Park.

“I’m super excited to finally get back in the ring and represent Saipan in the main event for Ring of Fire 2. It’s been six years since my last fight which was here on Saipan as well on April 2018. We had our first fight since then on Dec. 16, 2023 which was Ring of Fire but I only cornered the boys.”

Alvarez said the first Ring of Fire motivated him to get back in the groove and train for mixed martial arts again and he’s happy that he gets to show his wares come Saturday.

“We train kickboxing on Mondays and Fridays at the Trench Tech Gym and we have a solid group of boys who are consistent and have a great future in this sport! We’ve been doing a lot of sparring and just training and helping each other prep up. Once we got notice that we were set to fight we picked up the intensity and trained Monday-Friday,” said the 30-year-old Financial & Insurance Services Group staff.

Crisostomo, who comes into the fight with 1-2 win-loss card, said he will try his best to give fight fans a great show.

“I know it’s going to be a war. So, I’m sticking to the basics and getting my conditioning on par with my cardio endurance,” said the 20-year-old Paradise Fitness trainer.

The Alvarez-Crisostomo tiff will be one of two main event matches out of the 25 fights scheduled that evening. The other main event will feature Trench Tech’s Ram “Korean Blood” Lee vs. GuamMuayThai’s Jake Albert in a boxing bout.

To prepare for Ring of Fire 2, the 31-year-old Lee said he’s been training a minimum of three hours five times a week and has already lost 20 lbs. to drop down to bantamweight from lightweight. The tour guide has a 2-1 record in kickboxing.

Albert, for his part, said he’s been a gym rat the past two months and knows about Lee’s drastic weight loss coming into the fight.

“No much to say, but we’ll see how it goes and hope the crowd enjoys the match. Don’t know much about Ram Lee, but I do know he’s taller and he had to cut weight. I believe he was fighting at 160 lbs. before in ROF 1,” said the 25-year-old basketball referee for the Guam Basketball Confederation.

The other 23 matches in the Ring of Fire fight card are as follows:
