Priority Care dumps Marpac, faces PSS in finals
Priority Care advanced to play undefeated Public School System in the R&J Wine and Liquor Inter-Government Business League final after thumping Marpac, 73-60, last Thursday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
It was a heated semifinal match, but it was obvious that the louder fans were for Priority Care during the game.
Priority Care gave them something to cheer about, as they came in hot with sweet-shooting Steve King leading the offense in the opening minutes.
By the end of the first quarter, Priority Care doubled up Marpac, 14-7.
Marpac’s Coby Santos tried to rally his team in the second period. Frank Mettao also tried to be Santos’ wingman and the duo carried the scoring cudgels for Marpac but they were still down by 11 points, 26-37, at the half.
Marpac rallied at the start of the second half, but Priority Care was still in the lead with King and Matthew Duenas humbling all defenses pitted against them and the latter entered the fourth and final quarter with a 52-46 spread.
At the end, Priority Care’s Alfred Manglona’s late-game offensive burst secured the 13-point win for his team.
Priority Care played PSS for all the marbles last night and the results will be published in tomorrow’s issue of Saipan Tribune.
Priority Care 73 – King 25, Duenas 17, Rabauliman 11, Aldan 10, Manglona 6, Agulto 4.
Marpac 60 – Santos 21, Castro 13, G. Sablan 10, Mettao 8, Babauta 6, H. Sablan 2.
Scoring by quarters: 14-7, 37-26, 52-46, 73-60.
