Quest narrowly beats Aces to remain unbeaten
The game that highlighted the competitive forces of two Rocball teams in Round 5 of the 2024 Rocball League last week at the Marianas High School Gymnasium was the game in which the spirited players of Aces almost upset the undefeated Quest team in a 5-point overtime set.
And, if it wasn’t for what could be considered a controversial call of a loose ball on court, the Quest would have won.
Aces won the first set, 30-12, but lost the last and second set, 19-15. In a Roccball game, a team cannot win a game in a losing set. The overtime sets are 5 points or a goal whichever comes first and the Aces won the overtime set, 5-4.
In the other four games of Rocball last week, Topshakaz defeated the Spicey Locals, 49-20; Bolleyballerz defeated Chagii Fahn, 60-22; Baddie-A defeated the Rizzlers, 38-17; and Nesian Power defeated Border Control, 46-20.
The Bolley Ballerz was the best multiple-point scoring team of Round 5 with 13 two-point aces, six 2-point xunk serves, one 2- point backcourt kee play, three 3-point goals, and 33 1-point court hits. One of the highlights of Round 5 was the jam made by Austin Pelisamen of Team Nesian Power against team Border Control in the fifth game of Round 5: A jam is a defensive play made by a frontline player spiking down a served ball.
After Round 5, Quest is atop the standings at 5-0 followed by Topshakaz and Bolley Ballerz with 4-1 win-loss slates. Nesian Power and Spicey Locals are the middle of the pack at 3-2, while Border Control, Aces, and Baddie-Z are all below .500 at 2-3, while Chagii Fahn and Rizzlers are both winless at 0-5. (PR)
