Red Cross gears up for ‘Back to the ’80s Party’

To help raise funds and support the efforts of the American Red Cross in the CNMI, the NMI Chapter is holding a Back to the ‘80s Party this Nov. 18 at the Kensington Hotel Saipan in San Roque.

The fundraiser takes place as the American Red Cross-NMI Chapter celebrates its 45th anniversary, with nearly five decades of hundreds of volunteers working tirelessly to support disaster preparedness training, responding to major typhoons, teaching lifesaving health and safety training, as well as supporting veterans and military families through emergency communications.

“I’m proud to support the legacy of so many local volunteers who have given so much personal time to support families in need,” said John Hirsh, director of the NMI Chapter. “Our Red Cross services are made possible through the dedication and big hearts of our volunteers. ”

The 1980’s fundraising dinner will open at 5pm and will include a buffet dinner, as well as live entertainment from groups such as the Groove Theory, DJ Davey G, and MC Santi “Big Boy” Sablan. There will also be dance and costume contests as well as a silent auction and door prizes. Participants are encouraged to come wearing an outfit from the ’80s, which they can show off with pride.

Tickets are $150 per person and are currently available on the dinner event website, www.redcross.org/nmigala
