Rotary Club’s Las Vegas Night returns May 11

The Rotary Club of Saipan is bringing back its popular Las Vegas Night this May 11 at the Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan in Garapan.

Excitement ran high during its weekly meeting last Tuesday, as Rotarians discussed and prepared for their premiere fundraising event.

“Las Vegas Night: It’s a big deal” will start at 11am, featuring games like a Texas Hold-Em poker tournament and bingo happening concurrently, with table games like roulette and blackjack starting at 6pm and the event concluding at 11pm.

Tickets are $20 each. Those with tickets will also have a chance to win awesome prizes, including door prizes.

The grand prize winner will take home a 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage Hatchback or $10,000 in cash. The first place winner will get $3,000; the second placer will win $2,000; and the third place winner will win $1,000. Fourth placer will get $500.

Door prizes can be availed by all ticket-holders at the event. Although there is no entrance fee, one must have a ticket in order to take part in the games and win raffle prizes.

Raffle tickets can be purchased from Rotarians, and if purchasing with a credit card, go to Megabyte Saipan and Paradise Dental Spa.

Curtis Dancoe, the club’s double past president and current sergeant-at-arms, is the event chairman. He said they are excited to bring this event around once again. One of the iconic showcases of the night will be the club’s 31-inch roulette wheel, weighing an estimated 100 lbs.

“We’ve got a professional roulette wheel, which is actually the iconic part of Las Vegas Night. This is a real roulette wheel. It weighs over 100 lbs. It’s 31 inches wide. It’s the only roulette wheel on island, other than I guess [Imperial Pacific] had one, maybe. It’s very iconic and very old. So, it’s got a lot of patina on it,” he said.

Since Las Vegas Night will happen on the day before Mother’s Day, the event could be one of the places to bring mothers for a night out, Dancoe said.

The Rotary Club of Saipan has also invited their associated clubs in Guam, Japan, and the Pacific Basin, he added. “We’ve extended an invitation for them to come out for Mother’s Day weekend. And hopefully they can partake in some of the event festivities…”

Dancoe said it will be an “ all-hands on deck” event for Rotarians, but they are also open to volunteers who may want to join the excitement as a dealer or banker.

“We’re reaching out in the community. If you know anyone or if you yourself would like to serve as a banker or dealer during Las Vegas Night, get a hold of a Rotarian. We’d love to have you. Maybe as a husband-and-wife team or a celebrity team to come out and be one of our celebrity dealers. That’d be nice to have. So, yes, if there are people out there that would like to serve that evening, we’re always looking for volunteers to help us out.”

The Rotary Club of Saipan members discuss their upcoming Las Vegas Night this May 11, 2024, during their weekly meeting last Tuesday at the Crowne Plaza in Garapan.
