SaeHee Kim conquers July tourney

SaeHee Kim won her first CNMI Women’s Golf Association tournament of the season after prevailing in the July competition last July 13 at the LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort west course.

The former resident of Tinian scorched the greens and fairways of the Kagman golf course with a scintillating net score of 68 to win the tourney with plenty to spare.

Kim started slow with a gross score of 6-over 42 on the front nine before improving to a par 36 in the back nine for a gross score of 78 for the 14-handicapper.

“The weather was nice and sunny as usual with breeze. The easiest hole was No. 14. My drive was good and second shot was good which ended with a birdie. I don’t think any hole was the hardest, but most of the greens were hard to putt because it was so slow,” she said.

Kim then dedicated her win to all the CWGA members. “I had so much fun on Saturday with my beautiful CWGA ladies!” said the mother of five.

Dol Yamagishi finished second with her net 70, followed by third place Sunny Hyun with her net 71. Yuko Togawa (net 73), Terry Guerrero (net 78), Rose Rohringer (85), and Lorraine Babauta (86) made up the rest of the participants of the CWGA July ace.

The club continues to look for new members as the new season continues. For those interested in becoming a member of CWGA or for more information, contact CWGA president Yuko Togawa at (670) 287-9856, vice president Lorraine Babauta at (670) 287-0621, or treasurer Lou Kim at (670) 783-7317.
