San Nicolas opens Hagåtña office for Be Heartfelt’s Shoe Drive

To support its mission of helping children in need, Democrat Sen. Dwayne T.D. San Nicolas has opened his office for Be Heartfelt’s 4th Annual Shoe Drive, as a new school year looms.

“It is truly a win-win for the children,” said Lori Marsh Marble, CEO, Be Heartfelt. “Partnership means two people listening to each other and working together to accomplish a common goal. I believe when we use our abilities, strengths and skills to our best, we will have good results.

Good results mean less kids with nothing to wear on their first day of school. We all need to work together to give support to our next generation.”

Nonprofit Be Heartfelt has a mission to end the next generation of homelessness in Guam, serving youth on the island. Other than Guam, it also serves communities in Peru, Kansas, the Philippines, and Palau.

“Our heart for this donation drive is to ensure that every child in need has the opportunity to choose from one or two pairs of shoes, providing them with options that fit well and suit their preferences,” she said. “We believe that every child deserves to have a pair of shoes that not only meets their basic needs but also brings them joy and comfort.”

San Nicolas has established a drop off site, accepting donations of new and or gently used closed toe shoes from July 8 to Aug. 4 on weekdays from 8am to 5pm at his office in Hagåtña, located in the DNA Building in STE 407/408 (4th floor).

“Be Heartfelt recognizes this need for families on our island that we call home,” said San Nicolas. “It is important we support Be Heartfelt to achieve its mission of getting shoes on to the feet of our kids for the upcoming school year. I am always here for you and happy to support groups and organizations helping the people of Guam, especially our youth. Thank you for having me again be a part of this initiative.”

Other drop off locations are Guam Girls Scouts, Famous Footwear, and mayor’s offices in Yigo, Tamuning, and Piti.

Be Heartfelt is working to add more locations, according to Marble. Donations will be disseminated to those in need through School Outreach Teams.
