Simple Cafe opens inside 99 Cents

Simple Cafe has opened inside 99 Cents Supermarket in Garapan.

The coffee shop began selling snacks and a variety of hot food and cold drinks just before last Christmas in November 2023, according to owner Edith Villamena.

Simple Café’s menu includes sandwiches and Filipino delicacies such as puto, kutsinta, buchi, maja, siomai, siopao, pancit. and many more.

The new café and snack bar also offers drinks such as fresh fruit/vegetables juices, smoothies, iced coffee, dalgona coffee, matcha latte, Thai milk tea, among others.

Villamena said during the first couple of months of operation, their family-owned business has attracted some loyal customers who can’t get enough of their freshly baked pandesal, arroz caldo, iced coffee, and halo-halo.

“Simple Cafe is different from other cafes on Saipan because we offer a homemade-cooking style for breakfast and lunch bento. We decided to include lunch in our menu due to customers’ suggestions,” she said.

While mainly a takeout operation, Simple Cafe also has several tables and seats that can accommodate seven to eight dine-in customers.

Asked why open a business in still uncertain economic times, Villamena said a food business, as long as its tasty and affordable, will always attract its fair share of customers.

“We decided to open a business even at this tough time because we believe food is a human necessity whatever the season. When people get hungry, they will buy food to eat,” she said.
