Skechers is exclusive title sponsor of Saipan Marathon

Skechers, the comfort technology company and a global footwear leader, has signed on as exclusive title sponsor of the Saipan Marathon 2024, slated for March 9 in the Marianas.

The Saipan Marathon is a certified measured course by World Athletics in cooperation with the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races.

As of Feb. 7, 316 runners had registered for either the full marathon, half-marathon, 10K, or 5K. The Saipan Marathon is co-organized by the Marianas Visitors Authority and Northern Marianas Athletics and is sanctioned under the Northern Marianas Athletics rules and regulations.

“We’re honored to have renowned international shoe company Skechers join the Saipan Marathon this year as our exclusive title sponsor, bringing their global reputation of shoe wear with quality, comfort, and style to the race,” said MVA managing director Christopher A. Concepcion. “Skechers has been a supporter of many sporting events throughout the Marianas over the years, and we’re pleased to partner with them on the biggest annual road race on our islands.”

Other marathon sponsors are gold sponsors Bridge Capital, IT&E, and Triple J Saipan; Silver Sponsors United Airlines and Matson; Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands; Northern Marianas Athletics; and Bike Pro.

Registration is open at www.raceroster.com and is $110 for the full marathon and $80 for the half marathon, 10K, and 5K. Full marathon participants must be age 18 or older. Half marathon participants must be age 14 or older. With valid photo ID, students ages 18 or younger may register for $60. Registration will close at 5pm ChST on March 7, 2024, and mandatory race packet pickup will be on March 8 from 4pm to 6pm at American Memorial Park Amphitheatre in Garapan, Saipan.

A new course highlighting iconic sites from the Marianas’ rich history awaits full marathon runners. The road race will traverse sites from the various eras of Marianas history, including pre-history, the Spanish administration, the Japanese administration in the early 1900s, World War II, and modern history as a U.S. Commonwealth.

Cash prizes will be awarded for top finishers and by age division in the marathon. Participants will receive a limited edition official Saipan Marathon T-shirt, official Saipan Marathon medal, certificate of completion, and one entry to the awards banquet, also on March 9.
