UOG Extension invites dog owners to free canine care workshop
Island residents and dog owners are invited to a Companion Animal Welfare Workshop to learn about basic home grooming, canine nutrition, parasite prevention, and other essential care for dogs. The event is free to attend and will be offered three times the week of July 22 at different locations on island.
“Dogs are excellent companions. However, they can’t tell us what they need, so it is our responsibility to understand and learn how to take good care of them and provide what they need,” said Dr. Jeng-Hung Liu, animal scientist with University of Guam Cooperative Extension & Outreach. “This workshop is a unique opportunity for dog owners, prospective dog owners, and anyone who works with dogs to hear from animal experts on how to best care for them.”
UOG is hosting the workshop along with the Department of Veterinary Medicine from National Chung Hsing University in Taiwan, Guam Animals in Need, and Happy Pooch Groom & Board with sponsorship from the Jackson Yang Scholarship. Presentations from each organization will be followed by a Q&A session.
Several visiting faculty veterinarians from NCHU will simultaneously be on island through UOG assisting with the Spay & Neuter Island Pets program clinic from July 23 to Aug. 1 at the Hågat Mayor’s Office Community Center. Appointments can be made at www.snipclinicguam.com.
