Vizion locks in to Destroyers Friendly champs

Vizion Insurance locked in on their path to the 2024 Destroyers Friendly Games League championships after they upset top seed Bio-Pro, 107-90, at the Gillette Multipurpose Gymnasium last Sunday.

Vizion Insurance brought their A-game and distanced themselves toward the end despite a neck-and-neck game in the first half. Bio-Pro showed why they were the top seed from near-seamless plays and accurate takes at the basket.

But Vizion Insurance’s Ales Robles went on a tear through the court as he scored 10 straight points, then continued his onslaught later in the game. He delivered from within the paint and from 3-point territory, as well as from the free throw line due to his aggressiveness and speed.

With Robles was Arnold Sangoyo who assisted from the 3-point line as well. Then, Dindo Pablo contributed with his wide-open takes at the basket.

Bio-Pro, while they kept pace in the first half at 46-44, eventually tired out later in the game. The trio of Robles, Sangoyo, and Pablo continued their reign of terror on the court, along with some help from the rest of their team.

Bryan Natividad and Ryan Bayna from Bio-Pro tried to help their team with their takes at the basket, but it just wasn’t enough as Vizion’s defense held them down in the final minutes of the game—until they won from a deficit of 17 points.

Robles smoked the competition as he delivered the biggest blow with almost half of Vizion Insurance’s score with 46. Player/coach Sangoyo put his best foot forward and scored 22 points, while Pablo put up 16 markers, and Fradel Sedillo shot 10.

For Bio-Pro, Natividad led the team with 25 markers; Bayna shot 16; Alex Ocampo contributed 12; and Mark Matuguina delivered 10 points.

Pablo, a veteran player who helped assist the coaching staff of Vizion Insurance, said of their championship win, “We’re all very happy because we didn’t expect to win the championship. We were fifth place going into the playoffs.”

Then in the finals, they played against top-seeded Bio-Pro. He added that they also only usually play short-handed with just 5-6 players. He then said, “We credit this championship to teamwork and trust among each other.”
