Wettz rally past Lady Blue Jays, 17-10
Wettz rallied past the Lady Blue Jays, 17-10, in the NMI Softball Association Women’s League 2024 last Saturday at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Pangelinan Softball Field.
The skies above Susupe were a threatening gray with a peak of sunlight through some clouds, but the on-then-off-and-on again drizzle didn’t dampen the slugger’s spirits as they took on the diamond.
The Lady Blue Jays had a 4-2 lead at the end of the second inning from runs scored by Herminia Agulto, Kiana Camacho, Luisa Cabrera, and Sonia Isaac, but Wettz rained on their parade later in the game.
The humidity was as thick as the tension on the field as the game progressed and as both teams tried to gain and keep the upper hand.
Lady Blue Jays pitcher Sonia Isaac did a good job keeping Wettz at bay and left them scoreless in the fourth and fifth inning. But Wettz was beginning to warm up.
The sixth inning was when things started to unravel for the Lady Blue Jays, and was when things picked up for Wettz. Ashley Aguon started things off with an in-field hit, followed by a walk by C.J. Lizama. Another walk to Vicky Ann Pangelinan and Marg Aguon, and all would eventually score. Eva Lizama then hit a single, followed by another by lead-off batter Maria Igitol, and when the dust settled, Wettz was up, 9-4.
The Lady Blue Jays could only come up with two at the bottom of the fifth for a 6-9 game, and they were running out of room to retake the lead. Wettz’s offense didn’t look back as they tacked on eight runs in the last inning highlighted by an inside-the-park homer by Aguon.
The Lady Blue Jays, with the last at-bat, scored just four straight runs before being retired by Wettz ace Amalina Evangelista.
In other results that day, Man Amigas bombarded 670 Babes, 18-7, and Batties crushed Dirty Diamonds, 19-8.

Wettz’s Malia Pangelinan trots to home plate and scores a run during one of their games in the NMI Softball Association Women’s League 2024 last Saturday at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Pangelinan Softball Field.
