Year’s first salvo
The 3 Stooges copped the first championship of the year when the trio of Nan Intharaluk, Melissa Halaby, and Kitinan “Nan” Intharaluk won the 6th Annual Club Elan Christmas Volleyball Classic last Sunday, Jan. 2.
The first week of 2005 also saw Eliminators and Brotherhood post the first victories in the slow pitch league of the Saipan Softball Association. Eliminators downed Natibu, while Brotherhood battered X-Clusive.
In the 2004 Government Basketball League, defending champion Northern Marianas College and Department of Labor won Monday, while Department of Community and Cultural Affairs and Department of Public Safety I notched victories Wednesday.
The week also saw the Island Wide Volleyball League stage its first matches of the year at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium and the Philippine Bowling Association award Pacific Home Appliances their Thursday Night League championship trophy.
