Zach Tudela starred for G-Rollers I as action in the Northern Youth Basketball Association 16-and-under League began Monday night at the Garapan Basketball court.
Tudela scored 14 points to lead G-Rollers I to an 81-64 win over G-Stars in the 16-and-under division. He also had five assists, seven steals, two rebounds, and a block shot.
Wenz Namelo and Patrick Torres scored 12 markers each and combined for 16 rebounds, four assists, and four steals to support Tudela’s game-long brilliance. Torres also had three block shots.
Brandon Aulerio and Tom Pangelinan came off the bench combining for 16 points, 13 assists, and 11 rebounds also for G-Rollers I.
Jason Palacios had a game-high 22 points to lead G-Stars’ losing cause as he failed to get enough scoring support from his teammates. He also had one rebound, three assists, and four steals.
Dino Palacios was the lone G-Star who finished in double digits with 12 markers and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Joseph Jung scored eight points but collared 11 rebounds, while Ryan Ichihara finished with seven markers but had five steals.
Action continues today when the San Antonio Sixers battles the Kontenders at 7pm. On Friday, G-Rollers II clash with the Southern Sonics also at 7pm.
The 16-and-under league has three divisions, namely Division I or 12-and-under; Division II or 14-and-under; and Division III or 16-and-under.
Games in the NYBA 16-and-under league will be held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with makeup games to be played every Saturday.
Last year, the G-Stars, G-Rollers, and San Antonio Sixers won their respective divisions against separate opponents.
