Alleged driver in Marpi rob arrested
$100,000 cash bail imposed
Police arrested on Saturday morning beach volleyball player Jazzy Rosokow, who was tagged as the driver of a rental car that was used during the robbery of three female tourists along Banzai Cliff Road in Marpi.
Separately, acting Public Safety spokesman Jason Tarkong confirmed over the weekend that the driver of the getaway vehicle had been arrested but he declined to provide more information, saying he has no details yet.
Saipan Tribune sources, however, disclosed that members of a special DPS task force served an arrest warrant on Rosokow on Saturday at 6:57am on charges of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, and disturbing the peace.
The task force, sources said, also executed a search warrant at Rosokow’s residence in Tanapag, where the officers recovered the victims’ property.
Sources said it was Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho who issued the arrest and search warrants.
Camacho imposed a $100,000 cash bail, sources added.
DPS Commissioner Robert A. Guerrero disclosed Friday that he had created a special task force led by Sgt. Simon Manacop to investigate the spate of robberies on Saipan.
The task force first arrested in the evening last May 14 Alvin Jacob Iguel Blas, a 28-year-old bakery employee, who was allegedly the man who grabbed the backpack of the three tourists along Banzai Cliff Road that afternoon.
One victim, who ran after Blas and got dragged by the suspects’ rented Hyundai Accent, had several abrasions on her forearms, left hand, left knuckles, wrists, elbows, and right knee.
Police said the victim, Quichan Yang, and her two sisters had parked their rented car, a pink Mustang, along the shoulder of the Banzai Cliff Road to take some photographs.
The suspects parked their rented Hyundai Accent 20 feet behind the Mustang, then one, identified later as Blas, approached the passenger side of the Mustang and asked Yang if they needed help taking pictures.
Blas, however, grabbed Yang’s backpack that she had placed on her lap, and a struggle ensued, resulting in her being dragged on the road.
Another tourist, however, managed to take video of the incident, leading to the identification and subsequent arrest of Blas that same night.
The video reportedly went viral in China and in the Chinese community in the CNMI.

. Don’t take this the wrong way. I want to make this clear. I don’t condone this robberies that took place on these tourist’s areas like Last Command Post, Banzai Cliff and Suicide Cliff. What the Police Commissioner needs to do is keep a Police vehicle with Officers in it stationed in these locations, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, ready to respond to any robberies or anything else for that matter. And while doing all of these, the Governor and the Legislative just need to have a meeting. Everybody in the same room, no excuses. Have the Grant Proposal writer present, so you can get the money that is needed to build a Police Station with adequate bright lighting, so we can be able to handle anything that happens in that specific areas.
But these robberies will not be taking place in this island if the people that has no high school diploma and cannot spell but can perform the job or be trained to do the job will be given the opportunity to get employed rather than bringing some other nationality from outside and put them in the position and ignore them and not give them the job. This has been going on with Best Sunshine and countless other hotels and businesses here on this island and they have been doing this for forever.
You can expect for it to get worst than better.when even this government doesn’t give a rats ass about its people whether they get the job or they don’t eat. It’s like an animal, even animals have to eat. People here, you ignore them, then what do you expect? Everybody has to survive one way or the other. So before we pass judgement on people, having to result to this unfortunate ways of survival, maybe you people should have thought hard long time ago than to ignore them. I’m maybe poor, but even God don’t ignore me. So why should I ignore people less fortunate than me. That is not how God raised us to be. So think before you pass judgement on people for what they have to do to survive. One last thing, not for anybody to take this the wrong way, but if the FBI and Marshall’s office, ICE and Federal Drug Task Force really want to eradicate this ice epidemic, they have the means to do so, so what is the hold up? I’d bee here 10 years, I’m 51 and I know better and I don’t have forever to wait. And as my auntie would say “Cut the crap and do your job!”
Thank you for your cooperation.
God bless!
