Organizers of the Francisco M. Diaz Memorial Youth League and the 2018 Men’s and Women’s Island-wide Premier Basketball League are calling all coaches to attend tomorrow’s meeting at 5:30pm at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium conference room.
The meeting will discuss the opening of both leagues and other important issues.
The FMD Memorial Youth League is for Under 15 and U18 boys, while the IPBL is an open division. The leagues have attracted a combined 31 teams.
Eight teams have signed up for the FMD’s U15 division with 670 Sonics and NMI Rollers fielding two each. The Young Warriors, Ol’Aces Extreme, Ol’Aces Elite, and Tinian are the other squads competing in the youth league.
The Warriors and Rollers have entered two teams each in the U18 division, while the Sonics have three and the three groups will be joined by the Kagman Sparks, Ol’Aces, Ol’Aces Elite, Ol’Aces Extreme, Tinian, and the China Town Titans.
Six teams will be vying for the IPBL men’s title, while four have signed up in the women’s division.
Imperial Pacific has two men’s squads and they will be playing against the Ol’Aces, Ol’Aces Elite, Dream Team, and a team coached by Alex Lauron. The Lady Ol’Aces, Ol’Aces, Docomo Warriors, and a team led by Irish Pagarao and Madi Alegre are in the women’s side.
