Another lawyer is leaving OAG
Assistant attorney general Meaghan Hassel-Shearer is leaving the Office of the Attorney General, where she has been working for four years now at the Civil Division.
Hassel-Shearer confirmed yesterday that her last day of employment with the OAG is the end of July.
“It’s [a] family reason, a personal reason,” she said.
Hassel-Shearer said she will be moving to Washington, D.C. not to pursue her law practice but “to take care of family.”
“I’ve enjoyed my time with the AG’s Office immeasurably,” she added.
Hassel-Shearer has been the legal counsel of the Election Commission for four years now. She also represented the Department of Public Safety and many other government agencies in several lawsuits.
“I’ve enjoyed working here and obviously I’m going to miss my friends and co-workers,” she said.
Hassel-Shearer will be the 12th assistant attorney general to leave the OAG during Edward T. Buckingham’s term as attorney general.
