To celebrate the holidays, the Marianas Visitors Authority and other organizers of the Christmas in The Marianas celebration invite the public to the Paseo de Marianas this Saturday, Dec. 23, for another night of festivities.
Christmas music and vendor sales will begin at 5pm, with live entertainment by Saipan Awaodori Team at 5:30pm, Li’l Hands School of Music at 6pm, Hopwood Middle School at 6:30pm, Saipan Music & Dance Studio at 7:30pm, Alana’ia at 8pm, and FESTPAC Warriors at 8:30pm.
The monthlong Christmas in The Marianas celebration offers weekly holiday entertainment for visitors and residents from 5pm to 9pm and is organized by the MVA, PDM Promoters, Inc., Team PDI, and other travel partners. The event also includes food and beverage sales by various vendors. Local artists will offer arts and crafts for last minute shoppers, as well.
Last week’s celebration featured the after-dark Christmas Parade of Lights, Christmas Costume Catwalk, and school awards for Best Float, Best Christmas Costume, Best Caroling, and Best Christmas Tree Decorating.
The Japanese Mochitsuki Festival will be held on Dec. 30, marking the pounding of rice to make “mochi,” a traditional event in preparation for the New Year.
