SAIPANPLAY, a travel agency specializing in the Saipan market and other islands in the Pacific for Korean travelers, hosted the CNMI All-Star baseball teams from Saipan and Rota while they were in Korea to participate in the 2018 Asia Pacific-Middle East Regional Tournament.
The ASPAC was held at the Hwaseong Dream Park Baseball Field from June 30 to July 6. It had 19 teams from 13 countries, such as the CNMI, Guam, Taiwan, Hong Kong, New Zealand and host Korea, to name a few.
The CNMI Major All-Stars made up of Saipan players and the CNMI 50/70 Intermediate Team from Rota were extremely thankful for the opportunity to attend a Korean Baseball Organization professional game at the Suwon Stadium to watch the host KT Wiz take on the Samsung Lions.
“Saipan and Rota are small islands in the CNMI that has a total population of about 50,000. But, the interest in baseball is very strong and we hope to see the sport of baseball gain more support not only from SAIPANPLAY but other organizations”, said SAIPANPLAY CEO Shin. “We decided to host the youth baseball teams so they can have a meaningful and enjoyable experience at a professional baseball game here in Korea. I was happy to hear that they had a great time!”
SAIPANPLAY not only hosted the players but also the managers, coaches, league officials from Saipan and Rota and the parents that traveled to watch their kids play in the tournament.
“We can’t thank SAIPANPLAY enough for their generosity in hosting us,” said one of the parents. “They provided great seats to watch the game, dinner and drinks, and most especially an experience that our kids will never forget.”
“SAIPANPLAY was so thrilled that the CNMI baseball players enjoyed the game so much cheering on host team KT Wiz as if the youth were from Suwon, South Korea. The event was so successful that SAIPANPLAY has committed to continue to support the CNMI baseball teams when they return to Korea next year,” Shin said.
