Decomposed body found
The decomposing body of a 37-year-old man was found on the ground outside his home on Mt. Tapochau on Capital Hill last Friday afternoon.
Department of Public Safety’s acting spokesman Lt. Jason Tarkong said yesterday that the victim’s body was brought to the Commonwealth Health Center’s morgue for further investigative and preservative purposes.
“This case is pending further investigation,” said Tarkong. He did not release the victim’s name.
Saipan Tribune sources identified the victim as Allan James Boyer Dela Cruz, a son of former Veterans Affairs director Bernie Dela Cruz.
Sources said the victim was staying alone in the house; his parents are currently in the U.S. mainland.
Tarkong said that police responded on Friday at 2:14pm, to a report about a dead person at a house on Mt. Tapochau.
Tarkong said police met at the scene the witnesses who found the decomposed body. Police detectives were them summoned.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was found lying on the ground outside the residence.
The body was already in the late stage of decomposition.
Tarkong said witnesses attempted the past few days to contact the victim, but he did not reply.
Tarkong said witnesses finally decided to check the victim at his residence, and discovered the decomposing body.
Dela Cruz appeared to have a police record. He was arrested last March for domestic violence for allegedly beating his girlfriend on Texas Road in Susupe.
