Paire Football Club and MPU-TanHoldings eased past their respective foes in the Division A games of the 2017 Dove Women’s Spring League last Sunday at the Chacha Oceanview Middle School Field.

MPU-TanHoldings booked the victory earlier after downing Kanoa, 6-2, while Paire recorded the last win of the weekend following a 3-0 triumph over Shirley’s FC.

MP United-TanHoldings capitalized on the shorthanded Kanoa, which played with only five players in the first half and were down to four for awhile when one of its players took a breather due to exhaustion. One more player arrived a few minutes before the first half ended, however, the damage has been done with MP United-TanHoldings enjoying a 5-0 lead.

Gillian Villagomez made three goals, while Diana Maniacop scored two for MP United-TanHoldings in the first 25 minutes of play. Sherri Riggs then nailed the lone goal for MP United-TanHoldings in the second half, while Kanoa drew one apiece from Sarah Allen and Janelle Chojnacki.

With the victory, MP United-TanHoldings now has a 2-1-3 win-draw-loss record to move closer to the second-running Kanoa (3-0-3).

Paire strengthened its hold to the top spot in the Division A following its win against Shirley’s. Guinevere Borja knocked in the pair of goals for Paire (6-1-0), while Angel Sally chipped in one.

With another loss, Shirley’s has yet to win this season and stays at the cellar as it absorbed its fifth defeat and has two draws.

Meanwhile, Shirley’s was victorious in Division B following an 8-0 demolition of Kanoa.

Katherine Magat towed Shirley’s past Kanoa after firing four goals. Michaela Carreon contributed two, while Lillian Podziewski and Joannah Carreon added one each.

Magat and company got their fifth win in as many games to keep the lead in the five-team field, while Kanoa is at the bottom of the team standings with its 0-1-5 mark.

In the other Division B game, Paire and MP United played in a scoreless draw. With the standoff, MP United is still at the No. 2 spot with its 2-2-0 slate, while Paire is ranked fourth as it now has a 0-3-2 card. Idle Kagman has a 2-0-2 record for the third spot.

In other games, MP United and MP United-2 dueled in the first match, while Topnotch faced Kanoa in the second.
