Empty Vessel Ministry Foundation and Karidat are partnering in a back-to-school drive to help kids get a strong start to the new school year.

The community is invited to pitch in with donations of school supplies and clothes in good condition for children and youth (ages 4 – 18).

“We know many families are struggling to make ends meet, and we want to help make sure their [children] start the school year with some of the basic tools they need to succeed,” EVM director Rose Smith said.

Donations may be delivered to Empty Vessel Ministry’s office in Gualo Rai on Wednesday and Friday this week from 10am to 3pm, or at Karidat’s office at the Sister Remedios Community Center in Chalan Kanoa from 8am to 5pm (including lunch hour) every day through Friday.

Donated clothes and school supplies will be distributed from the Sister Remedios Community Center from 8am to 12pm on Saturday, Aug. 11. Families with school-age children in need of clothes or supplies are invited to stop by. Donations may also be delivered to the site on that day, between 8am and 10am.

“Our newly renovated Sister Remedios Community Center in Chalan Kanoa was made for community outreach projects like this one,” Karidat director Lauri Ogumoro said. “We thank our partners for their support, and look forward to meeting happy kids on Saturday.”
