The Falun Dafa Association Saipan will be commemorating the 22nd anniversary of the group’s persecution by the Chinese Communist Party on July 20, 1999, and will mark the occasion with multiple events in the days leading up to July 20.
Beginning Friday, July 16, the religious movement and its adherents will conduct motorcades, hold banners at the San Jose intersection near Atkins Kroll Saipan, and will have a candlelight memorial at the Falun Dafa Center.
According to a Falun Dafa Association Saipan representative through email, Catherine— who prefers to only go by her first name—shared with Saipan Tribune that Falun Dafa will hold 15-vehicle motorcades from July 16-18, Friday to Sunday, from 4:30pm to 5:30pm on all three days. Catherine also said that Falun Dafa adherents will be exhibiting banners and giving out lotus flowers to the community at the San Jose intersection from 3pm to 5:30pm on Monday, July 19. On July 20, a “candlelight memorial activity” will be held at the Falun Dafa Center from 7:50pm to 8:30pm in honor of the Falun Dafa practitioners who lost their lives in China due to their beliefs.
Catherine welcomes anyone in the community to take part in any of the organization’s celebrations this month. “Everyone is welcome to personally experience the physical and mental health and beauty that Falun Dafa brings to people through understanding the truth. The universal values of ‘truthfulness, compassion and forbearance’ are like a clean stream that washes people’s hearts,” said Catherine in an email.
Falun Dafa, or Falun Gong, is a religious movement that was formed in the early 1990s.
