FBI offers training on threat posed by improvised explosives

TAMUNING, Guam—On Friday, April 21, the Federal Bureau of Investigation is hosting a specialized training workshop focused on improvised explosives. The workshop will include a classroom presentation and explosive demonstration showcasing the explosive effects of conventional and improvised explosives. The demonstrations will underscore the potential dangers of particular chemicals, both in the hands of terrorists as well as casual experimenters.

The “National Improvised Explosives Familiarization Chemical Industry Outreach Workshop” is intended to give people who work in the chemical industry along with local law enforcement, emergency responders and local government officials an advanced, hands-on understanding the hazards posed by improvised explosives.

There is no cost to attend, but there is limited seating. Those interested in attending should submit their name, telephone number and email address, company/agency name and job title to john.kowatch@ic.fbi.gov. (PR)
