Special agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation searched the second floor of a two-story building in Garapan yesterday.
Saipan Tribune learned that Imperial Pacific International (CNMI) leases the space for its construction department.
As of press time, Saipan Tribune had yet to receive comments from the FBI and Imperial Pacific about the investigation.
At about 8am yesterday, about four FBI special agents accompanied by a U.S. Marshal were seen on the second floor of Kase II Building across T Galleria. Two police officers were also seen in front of the building and another in the building’s back entrance.
Yellow tape was placed at the bottom of the escalator located next to ABC Store, blocking access to the second floor of the building. Yellow tapes were also put on the building’s side entrance to the second floor and at the back entrance.
The officers said they don’t have any idea what’s going on.
As of 5pm yesterday, the agents and the officers were still in the building.
The manager of Kase II Building stated that he learned from their maintenance man at 9am that the access to the second floor had been blocked by FBI and the police.
The building is owned by a Japanese company, Marianas Seaside Development Corp.
