A fire caused by electrical wiring burned the second floor of a two-story building of B&R Auto Shop in Chalan Laulau yesterday morning.

No one was reported injured in the blaze, according to Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services spokesman Derek Gersonde.

Gersonde said the second floor of the building had moderate to severe heat and smoke damage.

DFEMS received a call from the Department of Public Safety’s 911 dispatch about the fire at B&R Auto Shop at 9:33am.

Firefighters from Susupe and Kagman fire stations and medics from Koblerville Fire Station and Search and Rescue Unit responded.

Firefighters placed the blaze under control and fully extinguished at 9:49am, Gersonde said.

He said investigation showed that the fire originated on the second floor at the eastern side of the building.

The fire caused heat and smoke damage at the bedroom of the shop’s owner on the second floor of the building.

Gersonde said DFEMS considers the case closed since the investigation showed that the cause was accidental.

No car was damaged during the fire.

On Sunday afternoon, a fire of unknown cause engulfed a yellow Camaro that was rented by a group of Chinese tourists at Banzai Cliff in Marpi.
