Guam Guard helps prepare isolation site

The Guam National Guard’s 94th Civil Support Team helped various government of Guam agencies prepare a new isolation site by setting up and certifying the decontamination location and training staff on proper procedures.

The mission of the 94th CST is to assess hazards, advise civil authorities and facility military support during emergencies and incidents of suspected weapons of mass destruction or other disasters. And, at this time of crisis, the 94th CST is using the expertise of its personnel to help the people of Guam ensure they perform the mission, conduct proper decontamination and get home safely to their families each day.

Throughout the month of March, before and during the COVID-19 pandemic on island, the 94th CST has worked with various government of Guam agencies and private business to train employees who may come in contact with infected individuals.

Along with the 94th CST’s support to the local community, a contingent of GUNG soldiers and airmen were placed on state active duty by direction of Guam Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero. These service members are currently providing security support to the Guam Police Department at various isolation sites throughout the island. (PR)
