H1-B Visa session: Helpful tips

Are you considering an H1-B Visa for your employee but don’t know where to start? The process of applying can be time-consuming and expensive. If you would like some more information to help decide if this visa category is a good avenue for your worker, you should attend this Saipan Chamber of Commerce session on Feb. 2 from 9am to 11am. Shirley Dotts, director of Human Resource Management at IT&E, has completed a number of these applications and has agreed to share some tips based on her professional experience regarding some items you should consider in the process. No legal advice will be offered at this session. The Chamber strongly recommends the hiring of an attorney that specializes in immigration matters when you decide to process your first H1-B Visa application.

What this session will offer you is this: a.) General information about application and processes pertaining to H1-B Visas, b.) What to consider prior to beginning the process, c.) How to determine the acceptable wage for your employee, d.) Types of RFE’s and how to prepare responses, and e.) The importance of a well-drafted cover letter.

Since the CW-1 cap has already been reached, business owners continue to explore other options to retain their valued employees. The process can be costly and appears overwhelming to many smaller businesses. This session will help you decide if this visa is a reasonable option for you to pursue.

If you are interested in this discussion, contact the Chamber office on the third floor of the Marianas Business Plaza Suite #315. Prepayment is required to reserve your spot. The cost is $45/member or $50/non-member and includes light refreshments. Proceeds of this event will go to our Scholarship Program and other programs offered by the Chamber.
