HOM organizers call for public’s cooperation
Organizers of the Hell of the Marianas Century Cycling Race are reminding motorists and pedestrians to take extra caution tomorrow morning as heavy bike traffic is expected during the event.
The race starts at 6am with riders to line up across the main entrance of the Mariana Resort & Spa. From Marianas Resort, bikers will pass through As Matuis, Suicide Cliff, Bird Island Lookout, Grotto, Banzai Cliff, Beach Road, Pacific Islands Club Saipan, Koblerville, Airport Road, Papago, Kagman, Escos, Kingfisher, Isa Drive, As Terlaje, Middle Road, and back to Marianas Resort.
Some of the visiting professional riders have already arrived for the weekend race, with Alexandr Dorovskikh seen yesterday testing the light drizzle along Beach Road and Middle Road. Seven of the eight Hong Kong riders are also here, as they arrived last night via Hong Kong Express. Japanese duo Daisuke Kaneko and Yasue Nakahara have checked in, too.
The rest of the pros, including the entire Philippine team, will arrive today in time for the 3pm press conference at the Mariana Resort.
HOM organizers are asking motorists to drive carefully and slowly when they see riders passing through the entire race course to avoid accidents.
