Inmate hangs himself in Guam jail

On Monday, June 22, 2015 at approximately 6pm, detainee Ti Dasi was found hanging in his cell during an attempted suicide. Corrections officers called 911 and Dasi was immediately transported to the U.S. Naval Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Internal Affairs Officers were immediately deployed to the facility to assess the situation and the Guam Police Department was notified. Dasi’s next of kin was also notified and he was subsequently transferred to the Guam Memorial Hospital morgue pending the outcome of the investigation.

Ti Dasi also known as Tipe Musi, Tiki Mori and Tickemore Mualia was a 23-year-old Chuukese male who was sentenced on April 25, 2014 to three years imprisonment with all but six months suspended for theft of property as a third degree felony in CF 567-13. He was paroled on April 25, 2014, a term that was subsequently revoked in February 2015 for various violations to include the commission of aggravated assault in criminal felony CF430-14.

In November 2014, Dasi was sentenced to one-year probation for assault in criminal felony CF430-14, as a lesser included offense of aggravated assault.

He was being housed at Post 5 in a single man cell pending security classification.
