Inos doing well; rest of family to join him in Seattle

Gov. Eloy S. Inos will reunite with the rest of his family this Christmas when family members still on Saipan fly to Seattle to be with him this holiday season.

“The governor’s fine and recovering. He has family already there staying with him and he also has family who are still here like Gerald and Kay. I know they will fly out and spend their Christmas there with him but I don’t know for how long,” said press secretary Ivan Blanco yesterday when asked for an update on Inos’ health.

While he is still recovering from open-heart surgery in the U.S. mainland, Blanco said Inos remains updated about the affairs of the CNMI government, with acting governor Ralph DLG Torres communicating with him.

“He keeps in constant contact with the acting governor. Sometimes, when he’s sleeping, it’s his brother Rufin who talks to Torres.”

As to the timetable of Inos’ return to Saipan, Blanco said it’s still up in the air.

“We were kind of speculating it would be December or January but it all depends on his doctors…He still has to do his physical therapy. You have to understand he underwent surgery and is still on dialysis. He’s not 20-something years old…”

Inos underwent an “endoscopic” procedure on his heart in early November.

Several months ago, Inos underwent continuing examinations and medical treatments following his heart operation in the Philippines last summer, said a statement from Torres yesterday.

Inos suffers from diabetes. Prior to his surgery in Seattle, he underwent dialysis at the Commonwealth Health Center thrice a week. Last January, Inos was confined to the hospital due to symptoms of pneumonia. Months earlier in November 2014, Inos’ health was a talking point during the 2014 general elections and subsequent runoff.

In November 2014, Inos disclosed that his medical leave to Manila that month was for a follow up to a bypass surgery he had in 2006.

  1. Inos should step down already. Its sad know how greedy he is. even near death. If i was that sick and I knew i was going to die soon, I would want to spend the rest of time alive not working.

  2. Unfortunately this may well be the last Christmas for Inos. All of the comined “problems” are due to his diabetes and kidneys.
Statistically he has gone past the time which others have survived with the continuing health problems.
Also due to heart bypass surgery he is no longer eligible for a Kidney transplant.

Another thing hi brother is not an elected NMI official and should not be involved within this Govt. actions.

It is past time for him to step down which will decrease any pressure on him, also as he is not able physically now or in the future to be able to effectively run this Govt.
Maybe he is just trying to wait out to pardon any of the others from the Fitial mafia if they are convicted.

  3. It is very obvious that Mr. Inos is in no condition to still hold the office. The people of the island deserve more than an absent governor and his fill in LT. Time for him to resign and enjoy the few remaining years he has left with his family.

  4. It seems that only Ralphy boy can make a move to have the Gov. removed due to his (Inos) non ability to perform his duties. I wonder how long it will be before the boy wonder gets the urge to do that?
I wonder if it could be petitioned in court by another elected or a person?
