The Northern Mariana Islands Basketball Federation is gearing up for the 2022 Micronesian Games and will have its first fundraising event this Saturday via the Michelob Ultra 4-Mile Run For Taste and Pokka 4-Mile Sunset Run.
Registration is still on for the Aug. 28 event and the NMIBF is requesting support from the community to help the federation send the NMI men’s and women’s teams to the Micro Games that the Marshall Islands will be hosting. The NMIBF has recently selected 20 players each in the men’s and women’s divisions that will move to Stage 2 of the Micro Games preparations and this weekend’s run will just be one of the several fundraising events that the national squad hopefuls will be involved with.
“It’s truly encouraging to have the community’s support as we prepare and battle for the honor to represent the CNMI to the Micronesian Games,” said Marlene Lumabi, who is among the players that made the grade in the first stage of the NMI National Team Program.
This Saturday’s event will have two categories. The Michelob Ultra 4-Mile Run For Taste is for 21 and over participants and registration can be made through https://raceroster.com/events/2021/50057/michelob-ultra-4-mile-run-for-taste. For the Pokka 4-Mile Sunset Run, runners/walkers can sign in at https://raceroster.com/events/2021/50180/pokka-4-mile-sunset-run. Registration fee is $25 (deadline is on Aug. 27) and will include an event shirt (for the first 65 in the 21 and over race and 35 in the Under 21), race bib, digital finisher certificate, and drink. Prizes packages will be awarded to the Top 3 men’s and women’s finishers in each division.
Both races will start at 5pm at the Garapan Fishing Base with a turnaround point across the Ladera Building along Beach Road. For more information, contact NMIBF at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This weekend’s fundraiser is supported by Michelob Ultra, Pokka, the Marianas Visitors Authority, Northern Marianas Athletics, and Latte Built. (PR)
