JROTC instructor allegedly sexually assaults cadet
A then-Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps instructor at Marianas High School allegedly sexually assaulted the school’s JROTC female battalion commander in May.
The Office of the Attorney General filed an information charging Ernest R. Torres, 58, with sexual assault in the second degree and assault and battery.
The Superior Court’s clerk of court summoned Torres to appear in court on Oct. 19 at 9am.
The clerk of court also summoned Docomo Pacific and requested the company to submit to the OAG telephone records for a certain cell phone covering the period from May 12 to June 12, 2015. The summons did not indicate who owns the cell phone.
Assistant attorney general Matthew C. Baisley stated in the information that Torres, at the time the JROTC instructor at MHS, “knowingly and repeatedly and without consent engaged in sexual contact” with a female student on May 12, 2015.
At the time of the incident, the MHS student was 18 years old and a battalion commander of the school’s JROTC, Baisley said.
The prosecutor said Torres was the victim’s JROTC instructor.
