Delegate Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan (Ind-MP) endorsed yesterday the candidacy of Juan N. Babauta and Dr. Rita Sablan who are running as independent for governor and lieutenant governor at this coming Nov. 6 general election.

“My presence here speaks loud,” said Sablan, drawing cheers from independent candidates as well as supporters of Babauta-Sablan team at Babauta’s house in Gualo Rai last night.

Sablan said one of the things that he did before he even went to Washington, D. C. after being elected to the office, was meeting with Dr. Sablan and her leadership team at the Public School System.

“I told her I want to make education my top priority in Congress. Guide me. Tell me what I need to do,” he said.

Delegate Sablan said Dr. Sablan opened her door and her leadership team.

He said he and his staff that he called colleagues, worked with Dr. Sablan and her leadership team over the past nine years.

He said he and Dr. Sablan did a lot of things primarily for education of children.

Babauta expressed his appreciation of delegate Sablan’s endorsement and coming and for speaking to their group.

“This is really a plus for our independent candidates, for governor and lieutenant governor,” Babauta said.

Babauta said he and Dr. Sablan are supporting delegate Sablan’s reelection bid.

The former governor said he recognized delegate Sablan’s accomplishments in his job in Washington, D.C. and because of his tenure and experience.

Babauta said he and Dr. Sablan and the independent group will rally behind delegate Sablan’s reelection.

Independent Saipan senatorial candidate Heinz Hofschneider and Sen. Paul Manglona (Ind-Rota) were among those who attended the gathering.
