The CNMI Department of Labor recently invited over 2,000 companies from the business community requesting information on their total workforce population.
The online survey on the DOL website, www.marianaslabor.net, is a short five-question questionnaire aimed at gathering data on a company’s employee population by citizen type and immigration status.
Gov. Ralph DLG Torres emphasized the importance of workforce statistics to determine workforce policies aimed at better developing the CNMI U.S. workforce and assisting residents who are actively looking for work or are transitioning.
“Through our discussions with our federal partners over the last few years, we recognized that data is key to presenting a clear picture of our economy and our labor needs. We have made great progress in these areas by working with our private sector partners, and we encourage them to continue giving us the information so we can help their businesses succeed. A proactive relationship between the government and our business community will help safeguard our economy from bad actors, help our people get into good paying job opportunities, and raise wages and profits for everyone,” Torres said.
“The survey is intended to obtain a total number of the CNMI workforce population and determine the ratio of U.S. workers to nonimmigrant laborers,” Labor Secretary Vicky Benavente said. “The survey is confidential and participant responses will not be used to identify a particular individual or company. The results of the survey will be used for statistical purposes only and reported in aggregated form.”
The CNMI DOL requests all companies to participate in the survey. For those who did not receive an invite, the online survey may be completed by going to the CNMI DOL website home page at www.marianaslabor.net and clicking on the SurveyMonkey link.
