Largent is MGA’s February Ace

David Largent booked his spot on Marianas Golf Association’s year-end event after topping the club’s February Ace of the Month Tournament held last Sunday at the Marianas Country Club.

The MGA vice president shot a gross score 76 and his six handicap gave him a net score of 70 for a three-shot win over Marco Peter. The runner-up finished with a 73 net as he recorded an 86 gross and had a 13 handicap. Largent now joins MGA president and 2017 overall champion J.J. Atalig on the list of early qualifiers for their group’s season-ending Ace of Aces tournament.

Atalig was also the closest to the pin winner at No. 6 during last weekend’s event, while Ned Norita and Largent duplicated the feat at Nos. 12 and 16. Nobody won at No. 8. Eleven MGA members braved the slight rain showers and windy conditions in the afternoon to join the February Ace.

Meanwhile, MGA will be announcing the date for its March tournament in the coming days.

Geri Dela Cruz (secretary), James Benavente (treasurer), and Calvin Yamagishi (tournament director) are the other MGA officers. The group has 30 active members made up of young, senior, rookies, veterans, men, and women CNMI residents who enjoy the game of golf.

For more information, call Yamagishi at 287-8894 or email or visit MGA’s Facebook page at
