Matansa FC thumps WNT Development Team in MSL

Matansa Football Club beat the WNT Development Team, 8-2, in the Marianas Soccer League Fall Season 2022 Division B game last Oct, 14 at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

Gabriel Arkoh Jr. busted the game open two minutes in and scored the first goal for Matansa. The WNT tried to set up for a counter attack but were rejected throughout the first half as they were unable to score. Meanwhile, two more goals were made in the first half by Dylan Mister to put Matansa up 3-0 leading into the second half.

Kaithlyn Chavez of the WNT finally put the ladies up on the board in the 49th minute but were still behind by two. The lead widened in the 54th minute as Arkoh broke through the net once again and was followed up by Garret Weaver for a 5-1 game.

The extent of the WNT’s attempted damage toward Matansa ended after Jannah Casarino scored their last goal in the 65th minute. Their defense collapsed at Matansa’s three more successful attacks on the goal, courtesy of Maxwell Church, Mister once again, and Harry Kapwich for the final score of 8-2.

Chang Bai Hu 3, Shirley’s FC 2
In the first Division B game of the night, Chang Bai Hu defeated Shirley’s Football Club, 3-2.

Chang Bai Hu drew first blood almost at the end of the first half made by Jin Xian Chen. Shirley’s Dhiraj Chhetri then got a hold of the ball and equalized the game four minutes later in the 30th minute.

Sean Gil then made the last Shirley’s goal two minutes later but the team couldn’t capitalize on their one-goal lead as they were silenced in the second half. Chang Bai Hu’s Min Guang Xu tied it up once more and Kai Xin Zhu scored the tie-breaking goal in the 49th minute, for the final score of 3-2.
