Mawati tops Max’s Restaurant; IT&E Dark prevails

Mawati and IT&E Dark earned double-digit winning margins against their respective opponents in the 2019 One Pacific Promotional Basketball League last Tuesday at the Civic Center Court.

IT&E Dark dominated IT&E Light in the second game 87-47, while Mawati downed Max ‘s Restaurant in the first match, 84-74.

A 20-7 scoring spurt in the first quarter allowed Mawati to take control of the match. Melvin Rejano led the way for Mawati in the opening period after firing 14 points.

Max‘s Restaurant picked up its scoring in the ensuing quarters, but Mawati still outgunned its foe in the second and fourth cantos to gain cushion going into the final frame.

Rejano finished with 17 points, while Webb Gontar, Jerome Directo, and Frank Ferrer chipped in 10 apiece for Mawati.

Ogie Herrera had 24 points on a losing effort for Max’s, while Sonny Lerio contributed 21.

In the second game, IT&E Dark held IT&E Light to 26 points in the first three quarters en route to a lopsided victory.

IT&E Dark built a 21-10 advantage after the first period and pulled away further when IT&E Light registered only 8 points each in the second and third quarters.

Ferrick Aguon paced IT&E with his 18 points, while Ivan Devero added 16, and Michael Cabanas and Dan Mateo had 14 each.

Bryan Santos was the only double-figure scorer for IT&E Light after making 18 points.
