MINA receives United Airlines roundtrip ticket to US

As part of its commitment to conservation efforts throughout Micronesia, the Micronesian Islands Nature Alliance announced that United Airlines is sponsoring the upcoming Green Gala by donating a roundtrip ticket to the U.S. that will be auctioned off at the event.

The Green Gala, which will be held on Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, is a signature fundraising event of the Micronesia Islands Nature Alliance (MINA).

“United Airlines’ donation raises the excitement of the Green Gala and the silent auction that will feature the roundtrip ticket,” said Frankie Eliptico, chairman of MINA’s board of directors. “We are very thankful for the company’s generosity!”

“For over 10 years, MINA has been on the forefront of environmental stewardship in the Marianas,” said Paula Monk, United Airlines senior sales manager for Guam and Micronesia. “United Airlines is proud to be an emerald sponsor of the Green Gala, and we look forward to partnering with MINA in other activities that promote conservation.”

The leading conservation nonprofit organization in the Commonwealth, MINA has successfully implemented many projects, including the Obyan Rehabilitation Project, the Schools for Environmental Conservation Project, the Marine Debris Prevention program, Tasi Watch Project, the Managaha Pride campaign, and the Adopt-A-Bin Project, which has placed recycling bins at all major beaches on the island.

In order to continue its efforts to conserve and protect the CNMI’s fragile environment and biodiversity, MINA is also seeking the community’s participation in the Green Gala. The organization is supported by project grants and from generous contributions from local businesses and community members.

In addition to lively entertainment, dinner and a variety of beverages, the Green Gala will feature brief highlights from MINA’s projects, a silent auction, and many other activities that promises a memorable evening.

Last year’s Green Gala was sold out, so organizers are encouraging those who plan to attend to buy their tickets early. Tickets for the Green Gala event can be purchased at the MINA Office in Gualo Rai or from any of the volunteer board members.

There are four categories of sponsorship (Emerald, Title, Major, and Event categories) that correspond to the value of companies’ contribution. To become a sponsor of the Green Gala, contact 233-REEF.
