The Marianas March Against Cancer fundraising season is in full effect as the community’s 20 teams gear up for a full calendar of events for the next two months before the annual 12-hour event on May 11-12 at Hopwood Middle School.

“We’re in the second week of March, and our teams have already been active in their fundraising efforts. You can tell that this work means a lot to our teams and our steering committee as we get ready for the big night in May,” said MMAC 2018 committee chair Bobby Cruz.

On Thursday, March 15, Team Bodig will be holding its second coin drive at the Atkins Kroll Toyota intersection from 4pm to 6pm. They will be holding another coin drive on Thursday, April 12, at the same intersection.

There are also several teams with special ongoing fundraising efforts.

Team Triple J Lancherus (Triple J and Chacha Oceanview Middle School) will be donating $1 for every iced tea or drink special sold in the Triple J family of restaurants: Tony Roma’s, Capriciossa, Truong’s, Surf Club, and Bubba Gump. They will also be donating $25 for every vehicle sold in the Triple J dealership.

Team NMIFA (Northern Mariana Islands Football Association), in collaboration with Shirley’s Coffee Shop, will be donating 10 cents for every iced tea sold in the restaurant’s Susupe and Garapan locations.

“March is already off to a rolling start, and we see this momentum continuing through April as well. Our teams are dedicated to this fight, and we hope their work inspires our community to join our collective fight against cancer,” said MMAC 2018 committee vice chair Carline Sablan.
